This series is my way of thinking about identity and perception, how we see ourselves, and how others might see us. I often use recurring oval shapes in these pieces; for me, they act as portal-like elements that both conceal and reveal parts of a person, exploring the idea that we rarely show or see the whole self all at once. They represent both that feeling of being fragmented and the hope for wholeness.
With the soft, dreamlike colors, I aim to capture a feeling that's both a little sad and hopeful, much like how we often hide parts of ourselves but still want to connect. You'll see figures interacting with these oval frames, perhaps figuring out their relationship with their own image and the feeling of being seen by others. My technique blends traditional photography with digital tools (including AI assistance), aiming to visually express something about the connection between our inner thoughts and feelings and how we appear externally. Ultimately, I hope this work invites you to think about how we perceive ourselves and others, and how much more there is to us beyond what people initially see.
