Watched: Street Without End

Street Without End, a 1934 Japanese film directed by Mikio Naruse, which was his last silent film.

The story is about a waitress, Sugiko, whose life is changed after a wealthy businessman accidentally hits her with his car.

The storyline isn’t spectacular, but I fell in love with how he framed every scene. Naruse and Cinematographer Suketaro Inokai used a lot of negative space, a style that I personally use quite a bit for my work.

Another thing I enjoyed from this film is the street scenes. It’s like being transported back in time and people watching on the streets.

Overall, Street Without End is worth watching.
